Extension v1.22.0 released
Extension v1.22.0, asbplayer's first extension release under AGPL, was released last week.
Under the new license, asbplayer will remain free (as in freedom), and open source forever. It will also be possible for asbplayer to depend on and be distributed with other GPL-licensed code. Huge thanks to @ShanaryS who meticulously researched and advocated for the license change, to the great benefit of asbplayer and its users. They did this in addition to their voluminous contributions to the release: jump-to-next-token keybinds, word definition annotations, a log viewer to enhance bug reports, several subtitle detectors, and many bug fixes.
Also thanks to @mwojick for migrating the project to pnpm. Without his work the project would still be taking on the order of minutes to build, and not be nearly as accessible to developers as it is now.
Additionally, I would like to acknowledge regular contributors:
- @mcgrizzz who, in addition to introducing significant upgrades to the WebSocket API protocol, fixed up the Crunchyroll and Jimaku integrations.
- @xwxb who continues to own the Jimaku integration and made automatic episode extraction more configurable via a regex.
- @artjomsR who added a setting to make subtitle container width configurable in pixels rather than just percentage.
- @rajpiskala who fixed a bug where loaded subtitle file names got stuck on screen.
- @thntx who added a way to batch update recently added cards with the same subtitle text content.
And a special thanks to new contributors as well:
- @chadzimmerman who added Rutube subtitle detection and made the original changes to add support for OK.ru and VK.
- @gpressutto5 who added an option to trim black bars from screenshots.
- @ravensgulls who made the original change to add subtitle detection for Dreaming.
- @awelotta who enhanced Netflix-style ruby detection to support alphanumeric words.
- @0xSm0ky who fixed a bugs in subtitle text rendering.
This was a very large release. Thanks to all the contributors both old and new for making this release possible. Full release notes can be read here.
